The ECO Institute, Cologne, has been involved in pollutant analysis of building materials, furniture and mattresses since the 1980s. We have been producing our futons from the DX collection almost unchanged since 1988 because they are simply good. Of course, you can also order these futons with organic cotton inside; the cover is always organic quality. This also applies to the Shiatsu futons. All of our futons are also available in a vegan version, which you can also do with just one click. Then we exchange – at no extra charge – virgin wool for cotton and horsehair for coconut fiber. This is essential for real vegans, but the original quality suffers due to the absence of the good Merino wool, which keeps the futon hygienic and the elasticity high. To compensate, vegan futons should be given particularly good ventilation and occasional sunbathing to prevent bacterial wear and tear caused by UV rays.
